*New Intern Alert*
August5
I moved in on Sunday and started my job here in Admissions on Monday, which means if you like to hear about the struggle of moving in I have great material for my first blog post! Living with other summer student employees in Stewart Hall, I’m getting to relive freshman year, sleeping just two floors down from where I spent my first two semesters at Midd. I will let you in on a Brainerd secret though; my old Stew 5 room is much bigger compared to my new Stew 3 room. But it’s all good because I did not bring along my amazing knee-length, super warm, marshmallow shape cloak that gets me through January, which is a big relief for my closet space. This is especially important because I seem to be an exception the rule that everyone tells you: “you’ll realize how little you need after freshman year and bring so much less”. I, in fact, have brought more and more each year and have had to become more clever about utilizing every inch of dorm space.
My first couple of days in the office have been a breeze, with a very welcoming team and a lot of catching up on fun facts about Midd; three months away tends to let you forget how many volumes of books the main library has (1.1 million!). However, now that I’m getting all refreshed and settled in I’m excited to see what warm-weathered Middlebury has in store for me for the next six weeks. On Monday the adventures were already beginning as we went kayaking in Lake Dunmore and feeling the water at a nice and toasty 80 degrees was definitely a first. Lori even treated us to delicious s’mores for being such great Admissions Interns which means I came at the exact right time!
