Paid Summer Research Opportunities in STEM at the University of Missouri! Deadlines 2/11-3/1/22.

The University of Missouri has more than 60 slots in our AWESOME summer program for visiting students!  

In addition to providing a full time research experience and end-of-the-summer poster session, we organize evening seminars, specialty small group seminars, and orientation and social activities designed to create a supportive peer community.  Many of our seminars focus on professional development, tailored to different levels of student experience.  We provide students and faculty the tools they need to quickly establish a productive mentoring relationship.  And Columbia, Missouri is a great place to get away from distractions for the summer, and focus on research and professional development at a major research university — Big Time research with the Small Town touch!

Stipends range from $3400-$6000 and on-campus room & board.

Program Dates:  May 31- July 30, 2022 (We can not accommodate late arrivals)

Medical Research – outreach for students interested attending MU School of Medicine

February 20

Alcohol Research – psychology addiction research

Translational Biomedicine – students planning on research careers and looking at MU for graduate training

Cell & Molecular Biology – for students interested in molecular and cellular biology and looking at MU for graduate training

Cancer Research – students planning on careers in cancer research, diagnosis, or treatment and considering MU for graduate/professional studies

Materials Science & Engineering REU – broad array of materials engineering research

Animal Sciences – for students considering PhDs in animal sciences.  This is not a pre-vet program.

  1. Apply for the DOE-WDTS SULI and CCI internship programs at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The application closes October 6 at 5:00 PM EST. 
  2. Register here for the upcoming virtual GRAD Lab (September 24-25) to learn about fully-funded STEM graduate opportunities combined with research internships at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  This event is hosted by the University of Tennessee Knoxville and sponsored by Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Summer research internships in Canada; Deadline Oct 15!

The Fulbright Canada- Mitacs Globalink internship program invites applications from U.S. undergraduate students to do an internship in Canada during the 2022 summer semester.

This program will provide high performing students with the opportunity to be part of a 10 to 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences. 

Mitacs, our partner in this initiative, is a federally funded, national, not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in Canada for some 20 years. Working with 70 universities, 6,000 companies, and both federal and provincial governments, they support industrial and social innovation in Canada. 

You can see the list of available projects here (disregards the deadline that is mentioned). You do not need to select a project at this stage, should you be selected you will select the project(s) of your interest in a second round.

The application deadline is OCT 15 2021.

Pathways to Computing virtual research opportunity for undergraduates at Oak Ridge National Laboratory–apply now

The Pathways to Computing Virtual Internship Program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is a remote 10-week summer program that provides undergraduate students with learning opportunities in computer science, computational science, and mathematics. Students will be mentored by ORNL research and technical staff and will be able to make contributions to projects in diverse domains including computer science, health data science, and climate science. In addition, students will gain valuable skills needed for a successful career in computing fields. Selected interns will have access to ORNL’s leadership-class facilities, including Summit, the world’s 2nd most powerful supercomputer. ORNL’s Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate oversees an immense store of computing power and its talented staff of computational scientists and mathematicians, conduct state-of-the-art research and development in computer and computational sciences in support of the Department of Energy’s missions and programs. Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student

Have a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Be 18 years of age at the time of application

HOW TO APPLY

“The University of Vermont is excited to be the host institution for the UDSA sponsored Research and Extension Experiential Undergraduate Learning Fellowship (REEU) program.

Each summer, from 2020-2023, 15 undergraduate students from US institutions, representing diverse academic backgrounds, will be provided an opportunity to conduct pathbreaking interdisciplinary research on the cultural, economic and scientific roles of the agricultural transition toward industrial hemp production.”
