About the Internship:  Middlebury alum Khalid Quadir ’89—CEO and founding partner of Brummer & Partners Asset Management Limited (which manages Frontier Fund, the first private equity fund in Bangladesh) and founder of bracNet, a Bangladesh wireless broadband operator—is offering a unique summer internship opportunity for three Middlebury students to experience first-hand the challenges and rewards of working in a rapidly developing country. The paid internships are sponsored by the Anwarul Quadir Foundation (AQF), which seeks to promote understanding of economic and social progress in Bangladesh.  One of the three positions is reserved for Shohoz.com. They are hoping to recruit a woman for this internship as there is a unique opportunity to be mentored by Maliha Quadir, Founding Managing Director of Shohoz.com, but all applicants are welcome.

The internship will take place in the city of Dhaka and is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors, with a strong preference for students not originally from the region to ensure a true cross-cultural experience.  This internship is funded with a CCI award of $5,000 to cover airfare, in-country travel, and living expenses, and will last a minimum of eight weeks. The internship will be with Shohoz.com, and the job description can be tailored to the student’s interests and skills. Maliha M Quadir is Founding Managing Director of
Shohoz.com:  Maliha has extensive experiences in digital services and
investment banking industry. She recently ran Vistaprint’s digital business in
global emerging markets out of Singapore. Prior to this, she worked for Nokia,
taking care of strategy and business development for an emerging market focused
digital content service called Nokia Life Tools across multiple
geographies.  In the early part of her career, Maliha worked in Investment
Banking, in Utilities Mergers and Acquisition team of Morgan Stanley in New
York and San Francisco, and also in Debt Capital Markets of Standard Chartered
Bank in Singapore. She has an MBA from Harvard Business School and BA in
Computer Science and Economics from Smith College (USA).
