In 2015, the Charles C. Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Biology in Denver, Colorado initiated a new program called the Gates Center Summer Internship Program. The goal of the program is to encourage outstanding undergraduates to consider careers in stem cell research by providing state of the art training opportunities at the Gates Center. Using adult stem cells, students work with research teams to develop therapies across a wide range of areas including Dermatology, Orthopedics, Oncology and Neurology. Scholars attend biweekly lectures given by the Gates Center faculty and present their work at the end of their internship at a poster presentation session. In summers 2016, 2017 and 2018 we selected two outstanding students for the program, and this summer we will again select two Middlebury Gates Summer Scholars to spend 10 weeks interning in laboratories on the University of Colorado Medical Campus. The internship is full time (May 29 to August 9, 2019) and you will receive a stipend of $4000.00.
The application process is competitive and open to current Sophomores and Juniors. In order to apply, your GPA must be at least 3.60, but students selected for GSIP typically have GPA’s around 3.80.
