Facilitating Discussion

Every week we will assign a few of you (depending on course enrollments this could be between 2-3 of you) to take charge of the assigned readings and facilitate conversation during the class time.  We anticipate that each one of you will participate in this process at least twice during the course of the semester.  We will try to ensure that you collaborate with different people.

The aim of this exercise is not to have you develop expertise on the topic we are discussing.  Rather we hope that thinking about the assigned materials collectively will allow you to think differently.  Making your ideas public is central to the concept of knowledge production.  The central goal of this assignment is to foster a way for us to think about the past collectively through our present day eyes and make this new way of seeing public.
