Attica Scott

Councilwoman Scott began serving on Louisville Metro Council in October 2011 representing District 1.  She is an Adjunct Instructor at Jefferson Community and Technical College and a consultant specializing in workplace diversity, facilitating difficult conversations and strategic planning.  She was the Coordinator of Kentucky Jobs with Justice and an Adjunct Faculty member at Bellarmine University.

Councilwoman Scott is in the Bingham Fellows 2013 class of Leadership Louisville; was a Courier-Journal Forum Fellow; featured in “People to Watch” in Louisville Magazine; featured in “The Climb” in Business First; recipient of the National Organizers Alliance Respite Award; recognized as a Connector by Leadership Louisville; Ms. Foundation for Women 2011 “Woman of Vision”; University of Tennessee “Best Practices” Awardee for building community-university partnerships; and so much more.

In Knoxville, Tennessee, Scott was Executive Director of The National Conference for Community and Justice helping to create the Greater Knoxville Civil Liberties Alliance and Race Relations Center of East Tennessee.

Scott serves on the Board of Directors of Restorative Justice Louisville and National Organizers Alliance and previously served on the following Boards:  Hispanic-Latino Coalition; Knoxville Branch NAACP; Equality Coalition for Housing Opportunities; University of Kentucky Center for Labor Education and Research; and Metropolitan Drug Commission.

Councilwoman Scott holds a degree in Political Science from Knoxville College (an HBCU) and a graduate degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee. Her proudest accomplishment is being a mom to Advocate and Ashanti.
