Watson and Fulbright Internal Deadlines

Yes, deadlines are fast approaching. Summer is officially over.

Watson internal deadline: Wednesday, Sept 9 at noon. To apply for nomination, complete the required sections of the Watson online application and send an email to fellowships@middlebury.edu with a Banner transcript (advising format if possible), the names of your recommenders. In the subject line, write “Watson internal application.” We will download your online Watson app and share the materials with our selection committee. Candidates will be invited to interview with the committee in early October. See go/watson for the applicant timeline and checklist if you’ve forgotten what to complete on the Watson online application!

Fulbright internal deadline: Monday, Sept 14 at noon. Please submit your complete, final, polished application in the Fulbright online system by this deadline. If you have recommendations or affiliations that will be late, let us know. If there are errors on the transcript we sent you, let us know. If you can’t submit because you are missing recommendations, email fellowships@middlebury.edu . If there are typos or problems we discover after you submit, never fear: you have time to fix these issues. You will receive an interview sign-up sheet later on 9/14 for your campus committee interview (via Zoom).

Questions or problems: email us at fellowships.@middlebury.edu .

Knight-Hennessy Webinars–Register Now!

The Knight-Hennessy Scholarship is hosting online information sessions from now through October. Register for a convenient date/time from the Knight-Hennessy Scholars events calendar. Information sessions allow prospective applicants to learn about the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program and application process, hear from scholars (when possible), and get questions answered. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program cultivates a diverse, multidisciplinary community of emerging leaders from around the world as they prepare to address the complex challenges facing society. Scholars also receive full-funding for graduate study at Stanford University.

Congratulations to Middlebury’s Fulbright and CLS Finalists and Alternates!

The Fellowships Office is happy to announce that twelve Middlebury students and alumni were named Fulbright finalists and another six seniors were named alternates for the 2020-21 US Fulbright Student Program. Two students were named finalists for the 2020 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) program, and another three were named alternates. Congratulations to all of you! This is, however, a very different year that we planned for due to COVID-19. The summer 2020 CLS program was suspended; Fulbright grants now will not begin until Jan 1, 2021 at the earliest. This means that many finalists will not be able to accept their grants for different reasons–a reality that is disappointing to so many. But we want to recognize this accomplishment by our students and alumni–well done! Alternates and finalists can reapply–so please talk with us about that. Fulbright and CLS application processes for this fall are proceeding as normal.

Congratulations to Middlebury’s Fulbright Finalists and Alternates for Study/Research and English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Grants!
