Video Art

In this course students study the emergence of video art in the contemporary art landscape, as well as its unique processes and applications. The ongoing evolution of this artistic medium and its numerous avenues for expression — from performance to installation to internet-based art — will be explored through the creation of original work. Student projects will be informed by readings, screenings, and weekly conversations with working professionals. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of HD video camera operation, Photoshop, and Premier Pro. Movement Matters is partnering with this course to help further consider course concepts regarding the value of imitation and presence in performance in this medium.
