Gaining the Edge

This year’s speakers include: Hawa Adam’ 22, First @ Midd Mentor and spoken word poet; Mona Haydar, a young Syrian-American Muslim who spent her 20’s as a performance poet, Carolyn Finney, PhD, Scholar in Residence and author of Black Faces, White Spaces: Reimagining the Relationship of African Americans to the Great Outdoors; Quinn Christopherson, winner of the 2019 NPR Tiny Desk Contest with his entry “Erase Me,” a song exploring his experience coming out as a transgender man; Theodore Ho, a neuroscientist named as Forbes 30 Under 30 for his research on the mechanisms and causes of biological aging and potential strategies to slow or reverse them; and Jamie Withorne, a Research Assistant for the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, an affiliate of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
