rings of Saturn This is the the formation of water ice and rock material around the planet Saturn. These rings are the most referenced rings of all the planets – there is even a band named Rings of Saturn. It is interesting to note that these rings were first discovered by Galileo, who is often referenced through out the Langdon series.

Jeremy England He is an american physicists who teaches and researches at MIT about the emergence of life. Since the publication of Origin England has responded to Brown stating that “Brown can’t cite me to disprove God“.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology This is the university in Boston, Massacheuttes centered on engineering and science studies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Phillips Exeter Academy This is the private, boarding school that Langdon and Brown both studied high school. In almost everyone of Brown’s novel in the Langdon Series has referenced Phillips Exeter Academy.

Orthodox Jew This is a sect of Judaism that focuses on the traditional texts and their specific laws and ethics. As of 2001, Orthodox Jews accounted for almost 50% of British Jews and 13% of American Jews.

NYU This is New York University, which hosts its campus in downtown New York. NYU has fostered an important research program that is relevant to this chapter in Origin.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pulitzer Prize This is a national prize given in the United States to deserving authors and composers relating to newspaper, literature, and music composition.

Cornell This is a higher education university located in Ithaca, New York. Cornell also has a strong research program as mentioned in Origin.
