You are cordially invited to a December 5 poster session, Tackling Rural Health Disparities: Interventions and Innovations, presented by students in Professor Pam Berenbaum’s fall class (INTD 0257, Global Health).  The students have been learning how the social determinants of health create inequities in access to inclusive health care, and they have been researching how rural health networks are employing new ways of reaching and serving patients.

Students are examining health care access obstacles faced by rural residents, and are looking at specific subpopulations such the elderly, pregnant women, agricultural workers, and those with chronic illness, mental illness, opioid dependence, or disability.   The interventions under study include telehealth, trauma-informed practices, cultural competence trainings, end-of-life support, and more.

The students will present their findings at two public poster sessions on December 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Both sessions will take place in the Great Hall (2nd floor) of McCardell Bicentennial.  Refreshments will be served!
