Creating A Video Imprint Of A Film Festival In Real Time : Videography Internship

Working closely with the Festival Producers, this stimulating internship offers a unique opportunity to be the primary videographer of the 5th Annual Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, slated for August 22-25, 2019, and create a distinctive video record of the event. Beginning in late May 2019, this opportunity is ideal for a student with emerging filmmaking skills and sharp creative instincts. The position requires an individual to develop and produce video projects in a time-sensitive fashion, all related to essential and high-profile elements of the Festival – and leads to an enormously positive payoff when the Festival all comes together in late August.

Specific components of the internship include: → Creating short entertaining promotional videos for key Festival sponsors and launching them on Facebook and other social media platforms → Creating the important Festival trailer, a 3 minute composite of clips from the various films that are accepted at MNFF5, laying in a soundtrack, and launching this on the Festival website and its YouTube & Vimeo sites → Developing and producing the high-profile 2 minute MNFF Opening Night Video, incorporating video and stills from past Festivals with a graphic and music overlay → Producing video elements for the MNFF Closing Night Awards Ceremony that highlight the winning films and their directors → Creating daily video coverage of specific events during the Festival, capturing the essence of panels, special presentations and parties → Delivering brief daily video recaps during the Festival for use on the Festival’s Facebook and Instagram accounts and in its e-Newsletter. → Cataloguing the video content produced at previous Festivals for easy reference and additional use →

This internship will begin in late May and run through the conclusion of the Festival at the very end of August. It will entail a commitment of 25-30 hours per week, perhaps more as Festival preparation comes into its final three weeks. NOTE: a candidate for the MNFF Videography Internship will be expected to have completed Sight and Sound I in the Film & Media Culture department as a prerequisite for accepting the Internship. Having met that criterion, the Intern will have access to a Sony FS5 [or comparable camera], a standard tripod, a shoulder mount [as needed] as well as audio recording equipment [as needed]. This internship is funded with a CCI award of $3,000.00. If you are offered and accept this internship, please be aware that your funding for this position is provided by CCI, and therefore you will be required to complete funded internship paperwork. This intern is eligible for summer on-campus housing at a cost of $150 per week for room and board. How to Produce a Film Festival in Real Time: Production Internship

Working closely with the Festival Producers, this dynamic internship will engage all the business, marketing and infrastructure aspects of the 5th Annual Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, slated for August 22-25, 2019. Beginning in late May 2019, this opportunity is ideal for a student who has a passion for project development and delivery, and for imagining ideas and bringing them to fruition. The position requires an individual to assess ideas rapidly, manage multiple tasks well and produce tangible results – and leads to an enormously positive payoff when the Festival all comes together in late August.

Specific components of the internship include: → Attending an array of meetings with Festival Producers that define the contours of the event → Creating the digital profiles of all accepted films and incorporating them into the online and printed Festival Program → Serving as the primary Festival point person for communication with filmmakers to secure their films for exhibition at the Festival and coordinate their Festival attendance needs. In this regard, the internship will involve tracking the arrival/departure plans for each accepted filmmaker and finding local families to provide in-home lodging in Middlebury during the Festival. → Working with regional sponsors to procure a wide variety of gift items for the Festival’s attending filmmakers and VIPs, i.e., the very popular Festival “swag bags” → Working with Festival exhibition venues on film screening preparations, including early delivery of films for quality control checks and making appropriate box office arrangements → Supervising the important Audience Award ballot process, including ballot creation and production, ballot distribution at screenings and ballot tallying in advance of the Closing Night Awards Ceremony → Working with the Festival’s Social Media Manager to maximize the reach of the Festival’s messaging on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter platforms →
