The Bordeaux wine region

The Bordeaux wine region

Thirteen students successfully completed academic internships in France this past semester and we would like to thank them for their hard work, commitment, and enthusiasm.  Bravo ! Two of these students interned in Bordeaux and the other eleven, in the Paris area, in such diverse fields as modern art, health care, online reputation management, and the wine business.

For detailed descriptions of these as well as previous internships in France, please see the following page of Middlebury College’s website :http://www.middlebury.edu/sa/france/internships/opportunities/credit.

French labor law now requires that academic internships have a direct link to students’ educational training program and that they be formalized in writing by the signing of a tripartite contract between the student, the employer and the student’s educational institution.  Our student interns write an internship research paper entirely in French of between 15-20 pages. These papers are supervised by academic advisors and then presented (again, in French) by the students to a panel composed of the aforementioned academic advisors, a representative of the School in France and, in the case of internships in Paris, a representative of EUSA (http://www.eusainternships.org/), the organization that places our students and gives them the appropriate preparation for a French internship experience.

So, again, congratulations to our recent interns ; we hope that you found this experience to be rewarding both personally and professionally and thank you for sharing your stories!
