The Vault Career Insider and Guide to Your Career Success

When you are on the job or internship hunt, it pays to be informed. You want, and sort of need, to know the ins and outs of the industry, company, and position you are looking to possibly commandeer. One of the many qualifications that employers are looking for, or that I have noticed, is to have a genuine interest in field “X”. To have an interest in a specific field, it kind of maybe ish might help if you knew a little bit about that field. One of Middlebury’s tasty resources can help put you on the road to job enlightenment. What resource am I alluding to? The VAULT baby, the VAULT.

Middlebury students get access, simply by being a sweet Middlebury College student, to a very, very awesome subscription that your friends here at the CSO Lab have battled for tooth and nail to get you. Well, not really battled, but we found it important for you to have, so we got it, the Vault Insider Guide.

How do you to get to the Vault Career Insider? Go to the great CSO Homepage and go to “Resources and Toolkit” and then proceed to “Midd Only Resources.” You have to log in using you User Name and Password, piece of pie, and then you are golden and you’ll see that the first resource there is the Vault Career Insider, check it.

As a diligent serviceman to the CSO, I gave the little resource a test run to see if was super terrific. It is. But I will admit, it is kind of annoying to get started because you have to create another User Name and Password on Vault, but it doesn’t take too long and just make sure you use you Midd Email. As many of you probably know, Vault is great for its guides, they have everything. Wondering about what industry you might go into? There’s a guide for that. Want to find out a little more about an employer? There’s a guide for that. Got an interview, want help? There’s a guide for that too. There is a guide for everything, pretty much.

For you seniors out there, if you are up to date on MOJO, you have probably noticed that there are a lot of Finance and Consulting deadlines fast approaching. Here is a list of guides I think you might find useful:

Vault Career Guide to Sales and Trading

Vault Career Guide to Middle Market Investment Banking

Vault Career Guide to Private Equity

Vault Career Guide to Investment Banking

Vault Career Guide to Consulting

Vault Guide to Resumes, Cover Letters, and Interviews

Vault Guide to Finance Interviews

Vault Guide to the Case Interview

The guides are all fine and dandy now, but the site has some other tools and resources that are equally as awesome and that can really stimulate that cranium of yours. And they are super most definitely not all dealing with Finance and Consulting. If you want to be a Flight Attendant, yea, Vault’s got the goods. You can search various companies to get the inside scoop and also see what employees think about their place of work. Don’t know much about an industry? Look that thang up! You can do it with Vault. You can also see sample Resume’s and Cover Letters for industries you might be interested in AND you can check out what peeps are making, roughly, in a certain industry.

WHEW! I know that was a bit long and wordy but I am just so freakin’ excited about the Vault Guide baybay! So I guess the take away is to just check it out, who knows, you might find it useful. That’s all for now but just remember, CSO is always here to help. Pop in for a drop-in (sweet rhyme) Mon-Fri 2-5 PM to have one of our counselors check out your resume or cover letter or to talk shop about internships or careers.

To access VAULT, click here, sign in, then voila, it’s the first link.
