Library Notes

For our sixth issue of BreadCast, John Hall shares a found poem he created in Professor Brenda Brueggemann’s class Teaching/Writing: The Art and Act of Writing about Teaching during the Summer 2017 session of the Bread Loaf School of English. Hall, a Lit for Life Scholar who teaches who teaches English and Urban Agriculture at Fern Creek Traditional High School, describes the course as “a place where we could talk freely about the art of teaching, and….how to represent ourselves as teachers within the profession.” In our conversation following his reading of “Library Notes” (full text), John reflects on the value of community connections and how he’s learning to understand his students’ needs, talents, and issues in his first year at Fern Creek.
