Bernie Sanders believes that our current system requires extensive reform. As a son of an immigrant, he understands immigrant families and their motivation for migrating to the United States. He also understands the values these families provide for the American society.
On the issue of border security, Sanders thinks that the borders must be secured. However, he opposes to building a fence to increase and enhance border security.
Sanders claims that as president, he would sign the DREAM act into law so that illegal immigrants who came to the United States at a young age have a path to permanent residency and even citizenship.
To support and protect guest workers, Sanders would like to increase funding to provide more legal representation for guest workers who have been taken advantage of, or worse, abused, by their employers. Requiring employers to reimburse for guest workers’ housing, transportation, and more is also part of Sanders’ plan.
