January 5, 2024: The research team was interviewed by Charlotte West, a freelance writer for NAFSA for support in creating a guide on advising LGBTQ+ students in the international education field.
October 28, 2023: The research team presented on findings from Conference Theme: Education, Migration & Human Rights: Intersecting the Local and Global. Click on the image to view the presentation slides.
August 14, 2023: The research team was interviewed by John Gallagher from NAFSA’s International Educator Magazine for an article on LGBTQ+ domestic and international student support, challenges, and the impacts of student identity on students experiences. The article can be read here.
May 31, 2023: The research team presented initial findings from their research on LGBTQ+ international student experiences, identity formation, and trajectories. The session’s goal was to move research to practice and help international student and scholar services practitioners support LGBTQ+ international students at the individual and institutional level. April 27, 2023: Principal investigator Dr. Anne Campbell, in a webinar with Dr. Andrew Herridge (who has also conducted research on LGBTQ+ international students), presented preliminary findings on the research project. Webinar recording is included above.
February 14, 2023: The research team presented on our systematic review paper exploring the current LGBTQIA+ international student research base. The presentation was given for the Comparative International Education Society’s (CIES) annual conference, with the 2023 theme focusing on creating a more equitable world through education. November 17, 2022: In observance of International Education Week and Transgender Awareness Week, the research team wrote and posted a blog post on improving LGBTQIA+/queer students’ experiences in international education. The blog post was submitted and posted on the Institute of International Education’s (IIE) Opening Minds Blog. The post can be read here.
