Open Enrollment – Exploring Medical Plan Choices

Now is the time for benefits-eligible employees to consider offerings for 2023!   Middlebury College has three medical plans for eligible employees to choose from:

  • PPO Platinum + Plan – Platinum level coverage with low deductibles, coinsurance, and co-pays for prescriptions. The PPO Plan has one deductible and out of pocket max for in-network and out of network coverage. 
  • Gold Plan – New! Priced between the PPO and Panther Plans, provides mid-tier deductibles and coinsurance for medical and prescriptions. The Gold Plan has a separate deductible and out of pocket max for in-network and out of network coverage.
  • Panther Silver Plan – High deductible health plan paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA).  The College contributes 50% of the deductible to the HSA. The Panther Plan has a separate deductible and out of pocket max for in-network and out of network coverage.

The PPO and Panther Plans will continue to offer the same great benefit design as in previous years.  The Gold Plan is a new high-quality plan for you and your family to consider for 2023.

Gold Plan Highlights:

  • Salary based premiums
  • Preventative care: Covered 100%
  • In-network stacked Deductibles: $450 individual, $900 two-person, $1,350 family  
  • In-network Coinsurance: Members pay 20% after the deductible is met
  • In-network Out Of Pocket Maximum: $3,000 individual, $6,000 two-person, $9,000 family
  • FSA compatible, no Health Savings Account
  • RX: 10% generics, 30% preferred brand name prescriptions, 40% non-preferred brand name prescriptions

Welcome Leila McVeigh!

Leila McVeigh ’98 joined the counseling team in the Center for Health and Wellness on 10/17. She previously worked with CSAC Youth and Family for 13 years. She lives in Middlebury, and just sent a child off to college this fall. She occasionally dabbles in choral singing and community theatre. 

2023 Benefits Open Enrollment is Here!

Open Enrollment for 2023 Benefits is from October 27 through November 11, 2022.  

This is the annual opportunity to enroll in and make changes to benefit elections via self-service in Oracle effective January 1, 2023.  Benefits-eligible employees are asked to take an active role in Open Enrollment by logging in to Oracle and confirming or changing elections.    

Attend an Informational Session:

The following 2023 Open Enrollment informational sessions will be provided. These sessions will provide a brief overview of 2023 Benefits as well as tips to complete enrollment in Oracle.  Please mark your own calendar to save the date and attend.

The 2023 Benefit Guide Book is now available on the 2023 Benefits Information Website from the Middlebury Human Resources Page.  In addition, this site is where you will find specific benefit plan information such as Summaries of Benefits and Coverage, links to pre-recorded benefit videos, step-by-step Oracle Open Enrollment Instructions, and helpful flyers regarding individual benefits.  

Please be sure to look out for emails from GMHEC Benefits Service. If you do not see them during open enrollment, check your junk or clutter folders.

Welcome Lindsey Baldwin!

Lindsey began her role as Operations and Events Coordinator with CCI (Center for Careers and Internships) on October 3rd.

“I am originally from Albany, New York, but came to Vermont to study at St. Michael’s College. I graduated in 2017, but fell in love with Vermont and have been here ever since. In my free time, I like to complete art projects, get outside, play video games, and play with my cat.”

Welcome Jesse Stratton!

Jesse Stratton began his new role as Director of Environmental Health, Safety, and Compliance on October 3rd.

Jesse comes to Middlebury from Atlas Technical Consultants where he served as a senior project manager for various safety and compliance projects across Vermont. His areas of expertise include infection control, industrial hygiene, regulatory compliance, and design and implementation of industrial safety-related training. Jesse’s work with Atlas provided him with several opportunities to work on the Middlebury College campus on projects related to reopening strategies during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic; safety assistance for the Forrest Hall and Johnson Hall renovations; and regulatory compliance training for Middlebury staff.

Jesse has a bachelor of science degree in freshwater and marine biology from the University of New Hampshire, as well as several professional certificates and certifications across diverse environmental health and safety fields.

He shared that he is looking forward to joining Middlebury in this new capacity.                    

“I have been fortunate to have several opportunities to work with various departments at Middlebury over the years,” he said. “During that time I have always been struck by the amazing group of dedicated people that make up Middlebury. I am humbled by the opportunity and beyond excited to get started supporting those that do so much for each other and this Institution.”
