This summer Middlebury will replace Kohn Field, but the 95,000 square feet of astroturf that covered the field will find new life as it is parceled out for miniature golf courses and other recreational facilities. A big piece of the carpet–nearly 20% –will stay right in Middlebury as a gift to the town’s rec. center. The new Kohn Field will be no ordinary turf. As part of the reconstruction the field will include a recessed sprinkler system to wet down the field before field hockey games.
