In this post we’ll introduce you to a new member of the Middlebury College staff who is working with the Project on Creativity and Innovation. Please join us as we welcome Catherine back to campus!
Catherine Collins graduated from Middlebury College in January 2011 with a B.A. in political science and French. She grew up in Caribou, Maine, where she spent a lot of time nordic and alpine skiing. At Middlebury, Catherine spent her spare time teaching nordic skiing to elementary and middle school students at the Rikert Nordic Center in Ripton. During her junior year she studied at Sciences Politiques in Bordeaux, France. Her time studying abroad allowed Catherine to cultivate an appreciation and understanding of French literature, society, and gastronomy. In the future she hopes to join her entrepreneurial spirit with her appreciation for French. The last course she took at Middlebury was MiddCORE. Through this experience Catherine was able to identify and develop not only her capacities as an individual – negotiating and marketing – but also as a member of a team, by practicing listening and facilitating group discussions. MiddCORE primed her to look for venues of opportunity and growth when facing challenges. Catherine is glad to return to Middlebury and eager to develop and expand the MiddCORE program.
