J Term Internships: Deadline Today!

Today is the last day to apply for these three great Winter Term internships! Whether you’re interested in environmental advocacy or promoting democracy in Haiti, these positions provide experience in research, development, and policy. 1. Rural Vermont Interns in Montpelier, VT

Rural Vermont has three positions available!
Research/Legal Internship—Work with staff on research projects that support Rural Vermont’s grassroots advocacy work. Work with the Director and farmer leaders to research agricultural policy.

Outreach Intern—Work with Outreach Coordinator to learn how to build a movement and connect with people in communities to build a statewide activist, member, and volunteer base.  You will reach out and recruit new folks, and nurture relationships with current supporters. Responsibilities include planning and executing all aspects of mission-driven events, including promotion/publicity, volunteer recruitment & management, logistics, and fundraising.

Campaign Organizer/Research Intern— Work with staff to implement Rural Vermont’s local food sovereignty campaign goals. Travel throughout the state to engage Vermonters in the campaign, and communicate with grassroots activists on legislative concerns around local food sovereignty. Assist in developing campaign materials and planning action events.

 

2. Volunteer Coordinator at Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti in Boston, MA

This opportunity generously provided by a Midd alum!! The Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti (IJDH) was established to respond to February 2004’s violent and unlawful interruption of Haiti’s democratic process. The Institute fights for the return of democracy and the rule of law to Haiti by documenting human rights violations, disseminating accurate information and pursuing legal claims in Haiti and abroad.

In this position, you will monitor and update IJDH-BAI social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Change.org etc); expand IJDH’s presence on Wikipedia, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Change.org, Idealist.org, Flickr, Guidestar, and other sites. Responsibilities also include contributing ideas for IJDH’s strategic development as it relates to social media; utilizing Google AdWords and Amazon Associates to increase search results for IJDH on internet; promoting actions, events, speaking engagements, and fundraisers through frequent blast emails to IJDH-BAI supporters.
