Haiti in the Time of Cholera: The United Nations, Environmental Responsibility, and the Deadliest Cholera Epidemic of Modern Times
The focus of Dr. Rattan’s talk will be on the importance of creating and evaluating sustainable interventions. He will focus on the inextricable links between health and water, and how a well-managed environment improves health outcomes. The Haiti connection and focus will hopefully highlight the importance of accountability and coordination.

Managing Nutrition Intervention on Varying Scales
The panel will highlight a number of unique perspectives, and focus on the key question: what is critical to incorporate in order to create a sustainable intervention? We will use the platform of nutrition and food as a starting point, and ask the panelists to speak to this question based on their experiences.

Dr. David Egilman and Dr. Hiba Salih, GHETS
Dr. Egilman will open this session, speaking to the mission of GHETS and the role of students in the movement for global health equity. Dr. Salih will elaborate, focusing on the importance of assessing and using local resources, engaging the community, and creating something sustainable and appropriate. We hope to make this session interactive, potentially by incorporating questions that delegates will submit in advance.
