I read this article a few days ago and found it quite interesting. Many Americans did not know about the intense situation in the Caucasus region of Russia until the Boston Marathon Bombings in April, however this struggle between Islamic extremists and harsh Russian politics and policies has been going on for a long time and claimed many lives along the way. This story focuses on the conflict of this region, how it could potential affect the olympics in Sochi, and what Russia is doing, rather unsuccessfully, to try to neutralize this threat.
