WorldTeach-International Teaching Opportunities

It’s that time of year where many of you seniors may still be looking for opportunities after graduation, so I wanted to be sure you knew about WorldTeach. WorldTeach provides opportunities for college graduates to live and teach abroad in 11 month programs in 13 developing and middle-income countries. Notably we have just receive requests for 50 new positions in the Pacific Island programs, all of which are fully funded, including airfare from a U.S. gateway city; these programs have a July departure date. Interested in Agriculture and Food? Apply to work at the Berry Center!

In 1977 Wendell Berry published The Unsettling of America, Culture and Agriculture, which launched the national and international conversation about the state of agriculture and food.  A newly posted Middlebury FoodWorks position is at the Berry Center, where his legacy continues, archiving Wendell’s personal papers and articles and working for A Place on Earth CSA, named after one of his books.  Other FoodWorks positions remain available – and some original positions reopened – where you can get paid to help develop critical local food infrastructure in Louisville and Vermont.

Lake George Land Conservancy Summer Job Openings – Deadline March 29th!

The Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) is a non-profit organization that strives to protect the land within Lake George’s watershed so as to keep Lake George gorgeous and pristine.  There are three summer job openings in the organization for this summer.  Check them out!

Fund for the Public Interest: Info Table, March 11 &12, 2013

The Fund for the Public Interest is a national non-profit organization that works to build support for progressive organizations across the country. Fund for the Public Interest  runs campaigns for USPIRG, Environment America, the Human Rights Campaign, and Environmental Action. Currently, there are paid positions open on campaign staff in each of the organization locations. 

Strong candidates are hard workers and have excellent communication skills. As a member of Fund for the Public Interest staff, you will fund raise, build membership for our partner groups, and educate and activate citizens on pressing issues. You will also have the opportunity to organize press conferences and build coalitions with other non-profit organizations. Positions are open to all classes. The pay rate is $9-15/hr (varies by location).

Internship available: LEED Innovation Credits Researcher for Middlebury Field House Design and Construction

This internship is a non-credit bearing opportunity for Middlebury students interested in green building design and construction. The internship will be focused on researching and developing proposals for innovative features to be considered for a new field house the College is designing pursuant to its Sustainable Design Guidelines which are based on the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program (LEED). Middlebury is seeking LEED certification for this project.

One to two interns will be hired to work closely with Sasaki Associates of Cambridge, MA, who are designing the field house with a committee of faculty, staff and students at the College. Interns will be supervised by Jack Byrne, Director of Sustainability Integration, and Andrea Murray, Visiting Instructor in Architecture. They will also work closely with the College’s project manager Mark Gleason. Interns will need to be available, in Middlebury for 2 or 3 days a week, approximately 16-24 hours a week.

Match Corps:    Merrimack Valley is a full-time, 10.5-month urban education math tutoring fellowship in two high schools in the Merrimack Valley. We are hiring 50 smart, idealistic, relentless people to work during the 2012-2013 school year.
