Biography:

Catharine Wright, MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, is Director of the Writing Program and Assistant Professor of Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies at Middlebury. Her courses include Outlaw Women, Writing Gender and Sexuality, and a first year seminar on novellas. She has a background in contemplative practice and is interested in place based, contemplative and social justice pedagogies. Her publications include fiction, essays, poems and articles in literary, feminist and mainstream publications, as well as two books, Vermonters At Their Craft (New England Press, 1987), and Social Justice Education: Inviting Faculty to Transform Their Institutions (Stylus, 2010). She has received numerous grants for both her writing and for collaborative faculty development projects such as the Mellon-funded projects on Social Justice in Higher Education and Writing Beyond Borders.
