1. You must complete all readings before class time. You must view all films, either at the scheduled time or before the following class. Weekly or biweekly we will post responses to the course blog. Your response should be one paragraph, not summarizing the work read, but reacting to it. What issues does the reading raise for you? What connections do you see between the readings? Also write down one concrete QUESTION which should show that you have thought about the text and are curious to know more. As we go on, you will be encouraged to alternate posting your own responses with responding to the postings of your classmates. Occasionally students will also be responsible for leading discussion on the topic of the day. (20% of your grade)
2. Three projects, five page papers or the equivalent in digital format. (40% of your grade)
3. Class participation, including some scheduled debates or town meetings. (20% of your grade)
4. Final take-home exam. (20% of your grade)
