Summer Fellowship at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Application Deadline 1/31/20

The Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows Program is a highly selective summer institute for rising college juniors. The program (May 23 – July 4, 2020 ) offers unparalleled learning and networking opportunities at the home of America’s first president, located just outside our nation’s capital.

Fully Funded Summer Leadership Program
Students spend six weeks living and learning at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. Transportation, meals and a $3,000 stipend are provided.
Eligibility requirements:
Currently enrolled college sophomore in good standing
Proven leadership ability and involvement
All majors welcome
Demonstrated interest in proposed capstone project
Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
Current U.S. Citizen

Reminder: Nov. 10 Nomination Application Deadlines for Goldwater, Truman, Beinecke, St. Andrews

For Juniors (graduating Feb or May 2021)

Beinecke Scholarship: Funding for graduate study in humanities and social sciences. Juniors only. Must have 3.7+ GPA, documented financial need, US citizen or US national. Nomination applications due Nov 10; see go/beinecke.

Goldwater Scholarship: Tuition award, STEM students planning research careers. Sophomores and juniors eligible. Must have 3.7+ GPA, US citizen or US national. Nomination applications due Nov 10; see go/goldwater.
Truman Scholarship: Funding for public service-related graduate degree. Juniors only. Strong GPA, US citizen, record of leadership and public service. Nomination applications due Nov 10; see go/truman.

For Seniors (graduating Feb or May 2020)

St. Andrews Scholarship: Funding for one year of graduate study in Scotland. Seniors/super-seniors only.  Must have 3.7+ GPA, financial need, US citizen, some Scottish ancestry. Nomination applications due Nov 10; see go/standrews.

Nov 8 Internal Deadline for Truman, Beinecke, Goldwater, St. Andrews

The internal deadline is fast approaching!

If you are considering applying for nomination for the Truman, Beinecke, Goldwater or St. Andrews Scholarship, now is the time to organize your application and ask questions.

For information about each of these scholarships, see go/fellowships and look at the listing of fellowships.

Beinecke: Current junior studying humanities, arts, social sciences; US citizen receiving financial aid

Goldwater: Current sophomore or junior planning a research career in science; US citizens

St. Andrews: Seniors interested in post-graduate study in Scotland who receive financial aid; US Citizen

Truman: Current junior interested in public affairs or public service; US citizen

Each has specific eligibility requirements (citizenship, GPA, financial aid, professional/educational plans) so read carefully!

CLS Application Now Open!

For those who have been impatiently awaiting this–the Critical Language Scholarship Application is now available! 

The application is available online at:  http://www.clscholarship.org/apply

 Applications are due Tuesday, November 27, 2018 by 8:00pm EST. Recommendations are due Thursday, November 29.

The CLS Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 15 critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.

This year, the CLS Program is pleased to announce the addition of Brazilian Portuguese to our list of language programs for 2019. The full list of the 15 languages offered through the CLS Program is includes: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu.
