Tucker Van Aken ’12 will discuss his experiences as a Fulbrighter in China. Dean Lisa Gates will be on hand to answer questions about the Fulbright or application process. Schwarzman Scholars Info Session, Wed. April 26

Join Christian Tanja from the Schwarzman Scholars Program to learn about this post-graduate fellowship to China. Open to international and US students! Language of instruction is English. The Schwarzman scholarship, inspired by the Rhodes scholarship, is a program designed to help future leaders meet the challenges of the 21st century and beyond by preparing them to better understand China’s culture, economy, governance and motivations. Scholars will study for a one-year Masters’ degree in public policy, international relations, or economics and business at Tsinghua University—fully funded. New Scholarship: Knight-Hennessy for Graduate Study at Stanford

The Knight-Hennessy Scholarship provides full funding for graduate study at any of the 125 graduate programs at Stanford University, including JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MS and PhD and dual-degree programs. Yes, including the law, medical, and business schools! It’s open to all citizenship types and to seniors and young alumni. Candidates apply to the Knight-Hennessy scholarship and make a separate application to their graduate program based on Knight-Hennessy deadlines. The scholarship seeks candidates with strong academic records. They should be independent thinkers, demonstrate purposeful leadership and have a civic orientation. For more information and the application, see https://knight-hennessy.stanford.edu/  . Upcoming Fellowship Deadlines: UK, Ireland, Fulbright, Watson

Reminders: if you intend to apply for nomination for the Churchill, Marshall, Mitchell, Rhodes or St. Andrews, you must do so by April 7. See go.middlebury.edu/british for instructions. You must apply by this deadline to be eligible for nomination.

Those interested in the Watson and Fulbright grants should submit a preliminary application by April 15. See go.middlebury.edu/watson and go.middlebury.edu/fulbright for more information. Recent alumni interested in the Fulbright are also strongly encouraged to apply through Middlebury. Internal deadlines for these process will be set later (late summer/early fall).

Evelin Toth ’17 Selected as a Watson Fellow

Congratulations to Evelin Toth ’17, recently named one of 40 new Watson Fellows! With the support of the fellowship, Evelin will explore how island communities around the world are adapting to climate change. Her project, titled “Adapting to the Rising Seas: Climate Change and Island Communities,” will take her to Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Taiwan, Samoa, Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands.
