FAO Schwarz Fellowship in Social Impact, Applications Open Nov 1

The FAO Schwarz Fellowship in social impact provides graduating seniors interested in careers in social change opportunities to develop their leadership potential and professional skills.

Fellowship positions are paid, two-year experiences working at leading nonprofit organizations in Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia both in direct service roles and in leading key program initiatives.

In addition to salary and benefits, Fellowships include professional development, retreats, mentoring, and cohort experiences. Six or seven new Fellowship positions are typically available each year.

Hosts are announced in early fall. Applications for the next cohort open November 1 and are due February 1. The Fellowship offers info sessions online throughout the year for interested candidates; see faoschwarzfellowship.org for more information!

Advanced Asian Language Study Fellowships – Due Dec. 30, 2024

The Blakemore Foundation is now accepting applications for full-time advanced language study at language programs in Asia during the 2025/2026 academic year. Fellowships provide full tuition and a stipend for living, travel and study expenses. Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are awarded to graduating seniors, college graduates, graduate students and young/mid-career professionals for advanced study of Chinese (in Taiwan), Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Khmer, Thai, or Vietnamese in Asia. Study of Chinese in Beijing is available as a Blakemore Fellowship. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States, have completed (at minimum) the third year of study of the Asian language, and are ready to advance to professional fluency. For art history students who have a well-demonstrated intent to study the pre-twentieth century history of Chinese or Korean art at the doctoral level, consider the Blakemore Kingfisher Art History Language Fellowships. NIH Bioethics Accepting Post-Bac Fellowship Applications – January 15, 2024 Deadline

The NIH Department of Bioethics welcomes applications for fully funded two-year post-baccalaureate and post-doctoral research fellowships. Fellows are central to the activities and intellectual life of our interdisciplinary department, including weekly bioethics seminars, case conferences, ethics consultations, IRB deliberations, and other educational opportunities at NIH. They study ethical issues related to biomedical research, clinical practice, genetics, biotechnology, public health, health policy, population health and disparities, global health and other important issues in bioethics. They also conduct mentored research. We do not require or expect bioethics experience and encourage anyone with a strong interest to apply. Rani Basnet, ‘26, Wins Obama-Chesky Voyager Award

Congratulations to Middlebury junior Rani Basnet, an International and Global Studies major, who has received the highly selective Obama-Chesky Scholarship, also known as the Voyager Scholarship. Basnet is one of 100 college and university students from the United States to win the award! It is now in its third year.

Created by former President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and Airbnb founder Brian Chesky, the scholarship is awarded to college juniors who plan to pursue a career in public service. The award provides up to $25,000 per year in financial aid and a $10,000 stipend and free Airbnb housing for a self-designed international travel experience during the summer between junior and senior years.
