Join a Conversation with Aubrianna Wilson ‘23, Watson Fellow (11/12)

Aubrianna Wilson returns to Middlebury to share her experience as a Watson Fellow. She will share highlights from her project, “Innovation and Empowerment in Disability Communities.” She collaborated with artists, activists and advocates in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand to understand how disability communities support one another, resist isolation, and increase inclusion with a focus on understanding how collective disability justice and innovation empowers disabled people. Associate Dean Lisa Gates will moderate the conversation and share details on the Watson application process.

Advanced Asian Language Study Fellowships – Due Dec. 30, 2024

The Blakemore Foundation is now accepting applications for full-time advanced language study at language programs in Asia during the 2025/2026 academic year. Fellowships provide full tuition and a stipend for living, travel and study expenses. Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are awarded to graduating seniors, college graduates, graduate students and young/mid-career professionals for advanced study of Chinese (in Taiwan), Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Khmer, Thai, or Vietnamese in Asia. Study of Chinese in Beijing is available as a Blakemore Fellowship. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States, have completed (at minimum) the third year of study of the Asian language, and are ready to advance to professional fluency. For art history students who have a well-demonstrated intent to study the pre-twentieth century history of Chinese or Korean art at the doctoral level, consider the Blakemore Kingfisher Art History Language Fellowships. NIH Bioethics Accepting Post-Bac Fellowship Applications – January 15, 2024 Deadline

The NIH Department of Bioethics welcomes applications for fully funded two-year post-baccalaureate and post-doctoral research fellowships. Fellows are central to the activities and intellectual life of our interdisciplinary department, including weekly bioethics seminars, case conferences, ethics consultations, IRB deliberations, and other educational opportunities at NIH. They study ethical issues related to biomedical research, clinical practice, genetics, biotechnology, public health, health policy, population health and disparities, global health and other important issues in bioethics. They also conduct mentored research. We do not require or expect bioethics experience and encourage anyone with a strong interest to apply. Present Your Engineering or Natural Science Research – Deadline to Apply, September 29, 2024

Undergraduates conducting research in engineering and natural science fields are encouraged to apply to attend the Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium (GCURS) at Rice University on November 9-10, 2024. This symposium is a collaboration with the Goldwater Scholars Community (GSC), an alumni organization of Goldwater Scholars. GCURS offers lodging to attendees coming from outside the Houston area.
