Princeton in Africa’s 2024-25 fellowship application is now open here! This opportunity is open to any rising seniors or recent university graduates. 

The deadline for 2024-25 fellowship applications is Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 at 11:59 PM Eastern. 

PRINCETON IN AFRICA FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Princeton in Africa (PiAf) is a non-profit organization that offers a yearlong paid post-graduate fellowship opportunities to graduates of US-accredited colleges & universities with a variety of organizations working across the African continent.

PiAf Fellows work in many different sectors, including international humanitarian aid, public & community health, business & economic development, agricultural development, and education & youth capacity building. Many of our fellowship organizations are also led by social entrepreneurs. Host organizations include the African Leadership Academy, Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative, Emerging Public Leaders, International Rescue Committee, the International Livestock Research Institute and many other organizations – both large and small – doing remarkable work around the African continent. Princeton in Africa expects to offer approximately 35 fellowships in about 17 countries in the 2024-25 fellowship year. Since its launch in 1999, PiAf has placed more than 700 Fellows in 37 countries across the continent. 

Princeton in Africa Fellows serve organizations in a variety of sectors and fill roles within the organizations including Communications, Research, Business Development, Financial Analysis, Grant Writing, Program Management and Monitoring and Evaluation. Fellowships offer an incredible opportunity for personal and professional development, skill building and launching a meaningful career.

Graduate Study in China with the Yenching Scholarship; Application Deadline December 3

The Yenching Academy offers a highly customizable Master’s program in China studies for English speakers with varied levels of Chinese language competency. At the core of the program lies its emphasis on interdisciplinarity and the value it assigns to thinking about China; past, present and future – from both Chinese and international perspectives. It also aims to push the study of China beyond the boundaries of traditionally defined humanities and social science disciplines, and is designed to incorporate the experiences and intellectual training of a diverse international student body.

2024 Applicant Qualifications
Application for the 2024 cohort of Yenching Scholars will be open from August
15 to December 3, 2023. Candidates must submit all materials before 12:00 noon
(Beijing time) on the deadline. Letters of recommendation must also be received by

Eligibility

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field, or be currently enrolled in a
    Bachelor degree program and be on track to graduate no later than August 31
    of the year in which they wish to enroll;
  • An outstanding academic record;
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China;
  • A record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement, social
    responsibility, and leadership potential;
  • English proficiency.
  • While there is no age cut-off for applicants, the average age of students entering the
    program is 23. No one older than 28 has been admitted.

Those who may apply in future cycles should attend!

The 2023-24 Selection Process
For Middlebury nominees, we anticipate that the Watson interview process will be in person this year.

Important Dates
Middlebury Watson Internal Deadline: Friday, September 7 at noon.
Watson National Application Deadline: Wednesday, November 8th 2023, at 12pm ET. All nominee applications, including recommendation letters and nomination letters, must be submitted by this time. 

Award Announcement  
All Watson nominees will be notified and the 2024 Watson Fellowships announced on Friday, March 15th, 2024.

Information sessions: Prospective applicants are invited to join an online information session where an admission officer provides a general overview of Knight-Hennessy Scholars, the admission process, and the application. (Aug. 9, Aug. 15, Aug. 29)

[New in 2023] Application workshops: An admission officer walks prospective scholars through the KHS application, highlighting requirements and tips for navigating the admission process. (Aug. 16, Aug. 30)

Admission Q&As: An admission officer answers questions from prospective scholars, focusing on the KHS admission process and application. There is a short overview of the criteria and application requirements. (Aug. 8, Aug. 17, Aug. 22, Aug. 31)
