The Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States is pleased to announce the launch of the Kanders Churchill Scholarship for the 2017 Churchill Scholarship competition, for attendance at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, in the 2018-19 academic year.
The Churchill Scholarship dates to 1963 and was established at the request of Sir Winston Churchill to increase cooperation between the USA and United Kingdom in advancing science and technology. Today, there are 15 Scholarships awarded each year to US graduates from one of our Participating Institutions (for eligibility and criteria see www.churchillscholarship.org). The Kanders Churchill Scholarship will bring that number to 16.
The Kanders Churchill Scholar will hold a bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics, or engineering, and will attend the Cambridge Master’s in Public Policy (see http://www.polis.cam.ac.uk/study-at-polis/graduates/MPhilPP).
The selection process will be different from that for the other 15 Churchill Scholars. Applicants for the Kanders Churchill Scholarship must be US citizens who have graduated with a degree in science, mathematics, or engineering, from any US institution within the past two years. Unlike the other Churchill Scholarships, there will be no application to the Churchill Foundation. Instead, candidates will tick a box on their Cambridge application (see http://www.graduate.study.cam.ac.uk/). The deadline is October 11, 2017. As with all Churchill Scholarships, applicants must put Churchill College as their first college choice. The selection process will be completed in early February. The Selection Committee will consider candidates’ academic achievements in STEM as well as their preparation for the Master’s in Public Policy.
