This series was organized by Profs. Andrea Olsen and Nukhet Kardam and made possible by the Fund for Innovation. The popular lectures and workshops spaced throughout the semester engaged the Springtensive theme of Social Change for Social Justice.
MIIS “TILM Survival Games”
A special event attended by 60 Translation Interpretation and Localization Management students. Real talk and experience sharing between 1st & 2nd-year students through authentic-relating games led by professor Julie Johnson. Followed by food and open-mic live music. Co-sponsored by the Graduate School of Translation Interpretation and Language Education (GSTILE) and the Center for Advising and Career Services (CACS).

Violinist and professor of Chinese interpretation Laura Burian delighted a packed Samson Reading Room. With interludes of live ensemble music, she discussed the intersections between performing music and interpreting in conversation with Julie Johnson, mindfulness researcher and professor of French translation and interpretation.
