Stonehenge 2010
Middlebury Idea Competition
- Do you have an idea for a project or business?
- Do you have a problem you want to solve or an artistic piece you wish to create?
- Do you wish you could spend the summer taking your idea to a whole other level?
Stonehenge is here to help you turn your idea or business into reality.
The Competition
Stonehenge is accepting written proposals, up to 3 pages in length, in which you explain the inspiration and/or viability of your idea or business. (See the application here)
Stonehenge competition categories:
- Arts
- Vermont Public Policy
- Environment
- Business
On Sunday April 11, 2010 the top four written proposals in each of these areas will be invited to pitch their idea for 10 minutes to an expert panel of judges made up of alumni, community and faculty. One student or group of students per category will win.
The Benefits
Winners will receive $3K for the summer. Students will be provided office space, access to Middlebury’s summer room and board, and alumni mentoring.
Accountability
Stonehenge winners will have frequent communication with their alumni mentors, reporting their accomplishments, problems, and future plans monthly through the end of the summer. This doesn’t mean you have to come in knowing all of the answers, it just means you have to commit to consistent effort to move your project forward.
Eligibility
All current Middlebury students, excluding seniors, are eligible.
Interested?
Submit your proposals by March 29, 2010 to stonehenge@middlebury.edu . The top five applicants in each area will be notified by Friday April 2, 2010 and will be invited to pitch their ideas in a ten minute presentation on Sunday April 11, 2010. There will be a help session offered before the 11th for those who wish to sharpen their presentation skills.
