Biological Science Aid/Technician

The students will perform the full range of standardized support duties and limited technical duties in support of natural resource management and wildlife management. Performs the following or duties of similar complexity:
• Makes observations, monitors, and records data relating to habitat improvement projects in river basins containing salmon and steelhead.
• Inventories water, wetlands, and upland habitats for plant diversity and use, following guidelines furnished.
• Performs habitat improvement work in fish and wildlife habitats, such as planting trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants.
• Monitors and maintains existing riparian plantings.
• Enters and retrieves data from databases, including Word Perfect and Excel.

WHO MAY APPLY: Students must be enrolled in a degree program and taking at least a half-time course load at an accredited institution; must be in good academic standing (at least a 2.0 GPA or greater on a 4.0 scale); at least 16 years of age; a U.S. Citizen or be a National from countries allied with U.S. in current defense treaty see www.opm.gov/employ/html/citizen.asp; and meet the position’s qualification requisites.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The selected student will be appointed at either the GS-03 ($11.74 per hour) or the GS-04 ($13.18) federal pay grade level, which is determined by meeting the following qualification requirements. For the GS-03 level, successful completion of 1 academic years (30 semester hours) of post-high school study that included at least 6 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics.
