- The College is entering its third year of maintaining no-mow zones around campus. (Yes, no-mow zones still require some maintenance.) Middlebury horticulturalist Tim Parsons recently blogged about the start of Year Three.
- Exciting news from the world of “Ideas Worth Spreading.” A host of enterprising Midd students are organizing a TEDx conference at the College in the fall. We’ll stay on top of this and will bring you extensive coverage when TEDx-Middlebury convenes.
- What makes a succesful study abroad program? The Chronicle of Higher Education recently examined seven signs of a succesful program, using Middlebury as a positive example.
- Is it beneficial to take a “gap” year between high school and college? Bob Clagett, Middlebury’s dean of admissions, offered his opinion in this recent Boston Globe story.
- Middlebury’s Language Schools will hold its commencement exercises next Friday, August 13, at 8 p.m. in Mead Chapel. National Public Radio President Vivian Schiller, herself a 1985 graduate of the Russian School, will deliver the commencement address. Middlebury Magazine profiled Ms. Schiller last summer.
- If you’re in the area, 51 Main at the Bridge is offering a host of activities this week, including a beer and cheese pairing (with microbrews and Vermont cheese), French School open mic, and music offerings ranging from jazz to steel drums.
