The male to female ratio varies considerably around the world and is controlled by factors such as economic conditions, cultural practices, and state policy. Abortion has been a premier issue of women’s rights in the 21st century. While most countries have liberalized their abortion laws, some, such as the United States, have tightened theirs, with profound implications for female body autonomy and health.
