Description: In the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes that devastated Christchurch, New Zealand, the city’s famous Christchurch Cathedral was badly damaged and is still being repaired today. As part of the effort to rebuild and revitalize the city, Japanese Architect Shigeru Ban collaborated with local groups to build the temporary Cardboard Cathedral pictured here (also known as the Christchurch Transitional Cathedral), where the Anglican Church formerly housed in the main cathedral welcomes visitors and holds regular services and events.
