Where is the LIS Summer Workshop Schedule?

We currently have just one open workshop on the horizon — Introduction to Drupal on Thursday, July 11 at 1pm.  If you are a new content provider who needs to learn the basics of creating and maintaining a departmental web site (or are someone who would simply like a refresher), you’re in luck.  Click here to sign up.

Be sure to visit go/lisworkshops periodically as we do include “special request” sessions in cases where others are welcome to attend.

We do not typically advertise many open workshops during the summer months as attendance is often limited due to vacations and classroom spaces are at a premium while the Language Schools are in session.  We are, however, happy to work with you to arrange “by request” training for your group, classroom space and staff resources permitting.  Send a description of your workshop needs to:  helpdesk@middlebury.edu.

Don’t forget about  lynda.com  — Middlebury’s fabulous online learning resource.  Summer is the perfect time to learn something new, such as iPhone Photography, from Shooting to Storytelling or Managing and Analyzing Data in Excel.

lynda.com service interruption

Middlebury’s lynda.com online learning resource is currently unavailable.  The company is aware of the problem and is working to resolve the issue.  They are hopeful that access will be restored by the end of the business day and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Update 6/27, 2:30 pm — Access has been restored!  (If you are unfamiliar with our lynda.com resource, visit go/lyndainfo to learn more and give it a try.)

Last Chance — LIS Open Workshops Wind Down for the Summer

It’s not too late to join us for a workshop (in English!) before Language Schools begin.  Visit go/lisworkshops to view the last of our advertised open sessions.  You’ll find a Drupal introduction that covers basic web site maintenance skills, as well as another opportunity to learn how to access and use  lynda.com  — Middlebury’s fabulous online learning resource that uses short videos to help you acquire new business and technology skills, including photography finesse.

Lynda’s recently added courses include such varied topics as “Managing Teams,” “Designing a Book,” and “Up and Running with Windows 8.” Watch a single video or work through an entire course, but be warned — it’s addictive.

Please note that we do continue to offer “by request” group training during the summer months, staff and classroom space permitting; kindly send your request with details to helpdesk@middlebury.edu.
