Week 2 Day 1 Discussion Question 3

Produced by Coronet Films as an educational resource for high schools in 1952, Communism repeats many of the points contained in the HUAC pamphlet, 100 Things You Should Know about Communism.  While Coronet Films was known for its expedient and mediocre cinematography, how does the film’s use of cinematic elements (e.g., lighting, camera placement, sequencing and transitions of shots, sound, music, and voiceover narration) distinguish the film’s ideological impact from that of the pamphlet?

A useful brief lesson on cinematic elements can be found here.
