According to “100 things you should know about Communism” a communist takeover in the United States would threaten key American institutions that make the United States the country that it is. A communist rule would not allow for labor unions, the government would be in charge of the unions and control pay and hours. Along with no labor unions there would be no private companies because if someone did so they would be “Severely punished.” Classic American institutions like religious centers would not exist as communism has tried to destroy religion according to the pamphlet. The article makes communism sounds like it would ruin everything about American society at the time. It is completely opposite world than the lives of people in American society and the pamphlet urges everyone to “Know the facts… Work as hard against the communist as they work against you.” The pamphlet’s goal seems to try to add to the existing fear in the United States and bring more to the fight against communism within the United States.
