In response to the Obama administration’s claim that the unemployment rate is 5.5%, Carson replied with why Americans shouldn’t trust the numbers:
“What you have to know is that you can make the unemployment rate anything you want it to be based on what numbers you include and what numbers you exclude. You have to look at the labor force participation rate.”

Carson thinks that people must be educated about the economy and job rates first, before they allow themselves to be convinced that everything is wonderful. He encourages the audience to think for themselves and not to be influenced by party politics and politicians.
