Sarah Messner


Position: Assistant Director for Projects for Peace

Department: Center for Community Engagement

Sarah loves partnering with others to co-create transformative initiatives in the service of a more just and peaceful world.

As the Assistant Director for Projects for Peace, Sarah will focus on developing new partnerships, educational programming, and future gatherings. Sarah’s work in community-based learning and experiential education spans more than a decade. Prior to Middlebury, Sarah lived in Udaipur, India, where she directed the Princeton University Novogratz Bridge Year Program. She has also facilitated other study abroad and experiential travel programs, and enjoys participating in co-creative learning environments.

Originally from southern California, Sarah has a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, a graduate certificate in Conflict Transformation from the School for International Training, and studied Creative Writing at Dartmouth College. She also has a background in community agriculture and food security, and loves hiking, bird watching, and sharing food together.
