I am sorry to report that Genevieve James Mayer passed away on December 26, 2010, following a long illness.  She was 79.    Genevieve worked as the data entry clerk in the Language Schools from late 1982 until her retirement in 1994.  Prior to coming to Middlebury, Genevieve worked for Western Union, Simmonds Precision Products, and Middlebury Savings and Loan.

Genevieve had many interests including gardening, crafts, and writing.  One of Genevieve’s poems, “Retirement,” was published in the book, “Treasured Poems of America,” Winter 1991 edition.  Genevieve leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Paul E. Mayer, son Paul J. Mayer, and daughter Paula Mayer, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association or Addison County Home Health and Hospice.
