Trial access to a trove of medieval digitized texts

For a trial period starting today, Middlebury College has access to Medieval and Early Modern Sources Online (MEMSO), a searchable database of original manuscript materials, archival documents, and printed sources for English, Irish, Scottish and Colonial history from the medieval and early modern period (c. 1100-1800).

MEMSO includes digitized versions of original texts held at the National Archives in London and includes the papers of King Edward VI and Queens Mary and Elizabeth I, among many others.

E-Book Collections – Trial access during May

Curious about the future of E-books and how Middlebury might expand its offerings?

LIS has had demos from 3 of the major e-book vendors and we now have trials to explore their platforms on our own. If you are curious and have the time, take a look at each before the trials end and submit feedback to refdesk@middlebury.edu.  The first two are IP-based and don’t require a password.  For the 3rd one, contact any librarian for the login info.  In all likelihood we will set up a patron-driven purchase plan with one of these (similar to what we did with netLibrary – load records for the titles in MIDCAT, but a purchase only happens if a title is actually used by our users).  The links for these trials are at go/trials or Library homepage -> Research -> New & Trial Databases http://www.middlebury.edu/academics/lib/research/db-newtrial
