Staff Council Election Nominations

The end of the academic year means it’s election time for Staff Council. Join Staff Council and help our fellow staff members have a voice.

This year there are five districts that will need to elect new representatives.  The five districts are District A, District B, District E, District F (Facilities), and District J (Custodial).  If you are at all interested in becoming the representative for your District please let Staff Council’s Election Committee know by e-mail at mcsc@middlebury.edu.  The committee will then highlight your name on the nominating ballot indicating that you are interested in being the next representative.  We would like to know by April 12th.

Please join us on Wednesday, January 9 for our regular staff council meeting.

Staff Council regular meetings are open to all Middlebury College staff members. Staff members should let their supervisors know if there is a particular meeting they wish to attend. Supervisors will seek to find a positive balance between addressing operational needs and support staff requests to attend these meetings.

Staff Council Election Results

There was a high level of participation in the recent Staff Council election. Many thanks to all of you who voted. The full slate of Staff Council representatives are listed below, along with the expiration of their term on Staff Council. Wayne Darling, Arabella Holzapfel, and Ken Pierce have been re-elected, and we welcome newcomers Brook Escobedo and Ashley Calkins.

We (Staff Council) will be sponsoring our annual ice cream social on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from noon-1:00 on the patio of McCullough, so please join us for ice cream and meet your representatives!

District A (primarily Academic Affairs-related offices) – Naomi Neff (term expires 6/13)

District B (College Advancement and Communications) – Cathy Tester (term expires 6/13)

Retirement Plan Discussion at Next Staff Council Meeting

Please join us at our Staff Council meeting Wednesday, April 11:

SPECIAL GUESTS Derek Hammel and Patrick Norton of the Pension Advisory Group (PAG) will join us to describe the recent re-formulation of the PAG (which oversees the College’s retirement plans). Derek and Patrick will describe the group’s charge and what they’ve been working on.

The college’s retirement plan affects all employees, so interested faculty members are welcome to join us. The meeting will start at 9 a.m. in the Crest Room. Also on the agenda will be our regular committee reports from Community Council, HR-6, Compensation & Benefits, and others.
