Who Attends?

  • All New Peer Writing Tutors Must Attend.
  • Trained FYSMs working as PWTS need to attend this session. 
  • Trained PWTs and FYSMs working as Mentors can attend session 3, 4, or 5. Choose one of these sessions, and plan ahead.
What Will We Do?
  • Tell us the writing expectations and guidelines of your major.
  • Get comfortable giving oral presentation
 
Make-up sessions are only for those who have received prior approval. Bring your folder to every session.

What are we doing?

  1. We will answer frequent PWT questions.
  2. You will practice a 15 minute-version of the 30 min. tutor session
  3. We will explore online resources for tutors and mentors.
  4. Always bring your training folder to all training sessions.

Writing and Academic Mentors now working as Peer Writing Tutors must attend.

Trained Peer Writing Tutors must attend this session or Session 3.

Writing and Academic Mentors now attached to First-Year Seminars  must attend this session or Session 3.

Attendance policy for PWTs:

We expect you to attend regularly scheduled afternoon training sessions. Makeup sessions are for mentors and tutors who have legitimate conflicts (sports practice, orchestra, job interview, or a lecture required for a class).  In advance of the regular session, please e-mail for permission to attend a makeup session.  Make-ups will be given only with permission and in advance for a valid reason. E-mail Izzy Nuttall for permission. Izzy will consult with Mary Ellen Bertolini, and then let you know if you have permission to attend a makeup session with Izzy.

Who Must Attend?

* All new PWTs must attend.
* All new FYSMs not previously trained as PWTs must attend.
* Trained PWTs and trained FYSMs who have not attended session 4 or 5 must attend.

However, all PWTs and FYSMs must fill out the Future Plans Form—either at the meeting or electronically.

FYSMs and PWTs in classes: Please fill out the class survey when you receive it.

Ref-Works session just for PWTs and FYSMs.

Monday 11/7 at 4:30, Library 105, LIS will hold a Ref-Works session just for PWTs and FYSMs. This training is helpful for both you and your students. Lis will pay you for your time! You will fill out a temporary pay card while you are there.
