Journal Entry #3

In this Huffington Post article I found, Tim Rymel investigates the link between pornography and sexual assault. He references a statement from the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and found that researchers overwhelmingly deny the correlation. Their reasoning is that “men who commit rape and men who don’t commit rape both view pornography” (Rymel, “Does Pornography Lead…”). Therefore, this would argue against Morgan’s point and her emphasis on the interrelatedness of both. I found this article to be interesting because the author goes as far as to cite a director of the Pacific Center for Sex and Society who believes that there is absolutely no evidence that pornography has negative consequences. While personally don’t agree with this statement, it was surprising to see an agency make such claim despite strong opposition from antipornographic groups.
