The Zeta Function

Many mathematicians would say that Riemann’s most important discovery has to do with the Zeta function – an astronomically complex formula dealing with complex planes, prime number theory, trivial roots, and all sorts of Greek letters. As it is far above my pay-grade as an amateur biographer, I’ve given some diagrams and formulas for you to decipher on your own. A hint coming from Wolfram Mathematica is that “ the location of the Riemann zeta function’s zeros is of great importance in the theory of numbers. From the fact that all non-trivial zeros lie in the critical strip one can deduce the prime number theorem”. Needless to say, Riemann’s famous hypothesis hasn’t yet been proven and continues to puzzle mathematicians the world over.
