North Carolina passes the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, aka the “bathroom bill” that prevented people from using bathrooms other than those that matched the sex assigned at birth. It also barred cities, counties and municipalities from enacting any anti-discrimination policies not already covered by North Carolina state law. There is widespread backlash from corporations and athletic events.
